Hello graduate students!
Welcome back to a new school year with ECEG. We've got
a great group of returning and new executive that are
looking forward to helping you meet people, take breaks
from work once in a while, and generally improve your
grad school experience.
Those of you that are returning know about our monthly
tea and coffee socials, held in the afternoon of the
first Tuesday of the month, as well as our penchant for
providing free food at any excuse. We get people
together for social events such as skating, skiing, or
paintballing at least twice a semester, and we're always
on the lookout for new event ideas. In addition to
social activities, we host seminars and lecture series
to help you with your career goals in academia and
beyond.
Please keep an eye on your inbox and this website for
updates on events and ongoing projects. If you have any
suggestions or would like to get involved, don't
hesitate to email
eceg@ucalgary.ca or approach any of the executive.
We hold general meetings (complete with lunch) every
semester, and our executive meetings are always open.
We look forward to meeting you!

Fall Barbeque Event
Hello
graduate students!
ECEG, your friendly
neighbourhood graduate student society, would like to
welcome you to the start of a new school year with a
free barbeque next Friday at noon.
Whether you've been here for
a few years or a few weeks, this is a great chance to
come and meet some other students in the department. We
will be introducing the new ECEG executive and there
will be a few brief announcements about who we are and
what our plans are for the upcoming year. Most
importantly, there will be beef and veggie burgers, pop
and juice, and possibly some warming drinks to help fend
off this unusually cold September.

(new patio stones by EEEL construction)
When: 12 - 1:30 PM, Friday

and we'll see you out there (weather permitting)!
GSA Holiday Drive with ECEG
December 8, 2009:
Congratulations to the graduate students, academics, and
support staff of ENEL! With your generous help, ECEG managed
to collect a cornucopia of donations to the Campus Food Bank
for the GSA's holiday drive. In addition to the boxes
pictured here, we received nearly $240 in donations, which
we used to purchase a huge number of items that will no
doubt warm the tummies of many families in need during the
cold months of winter.
We have submitted all of our items to the GSA and we are
waiting with anticipation to find out whether we won the
contest: the three DGAs who came up with the most food items
per student will receive a $300 event grant for next
semester.
Way to go ENEL and way to go ECEG!!
